On November 15 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dallas’s very own, Abdul Kareem AlSelwady will be fighting Dumar Roa under Brave Combat Federation. Selwady who has an impressive record of 10 wins and 2 losses will be moving down one weight class to face his opponent. Having previously fought at lightweight Selwady is looking to go back to his old stomping grounds at featherweight, with 5 wins and 1 loss in each weight class. He enjoyed having to not cut as much weight when fighting at lightweight but now says about moving back down that “ I have had to change my lifestyle, what I eat and how I train, but I feel good alhamdulilah”.
His opponent has a record of 12 wins and 7 losses and primarily relies on his kickboxing skills to win his fights. Selwady is confident in his own skills overall including his striking, wrestling and Ju-Jit-Su and says that “ I am willing to take the fight wherever it takes to beat him”.
Even though Selwady has lived overseas and in other parts of the United states he is happy to call Dallas his home. He feels extremely welcomed here and says “Alhamdulilah I really love the support from the local Muslims”. However his end goal is to become a fighter that Muslims around the world can rally around and become inspired by.
Inshallah Abdul Kareem can pull off the victory and prove that he is one of the top rising prospects in MMA and a figure that Muslims can look up to for years to come.
